Materials:

Black construction paper for the background      

Brown construction paper for the branch

Cotton batting or cotton for the owlets

Orange paper triangles for beaks and feet

Yellow circles and smaller black circles for eyes

Stars and moon stickers or shapes cut from foil

Glue stick, or white glue and cotton swab

Use the words "barn owl" to create an acrostic that uses facts about these owls to assess student knowledge after research or studying. For example:

B is for barn owl, a common owl found on every continent except Antarctica.
