ALLFOURINTHEROOM?: (ad nauseum question) The answer so far, as always, is yes! Related to IONLYSEETHREE!!!

ASHLEY: (proper noun) 1 - First owlet born in the second clutch. Hatched 8/7/2010. 2 - Carlos & Donna Royal's granddaughter, older sister to Austin.

AUSTIN: (proper noun) 1 - Third owl born of the first clutch, probably male. Hatched 03/25/10. 2 - Carlos & Donna Royal's grandson who helped with technical aspects of the Owl Box and produced the DVD documentary.

BEAK OFF: (noun) The action of Molly or McGee handing over a rodent delivery to the kids.

BLUE BOX OF RODENT DEATH: (noun) The banner above the main Owl Box feed, kept by the UStream moderators and detailing the time and type of treat deliveries each night.

BLURZ: (proper noun) The blur on the new higher night camera installed between the first and second clutch caused by  Glowz's spider web and a feather.

BUSTER: (proper noun) The first egg that Molly laid. It broke and Molly ate it.

CARLOS ROYAL: (proper noun) Owner and operator of the Owl Box in San Marcos, CA.

CARLOSOVERNOUT: (noun) The signoff from Carlos's live evening broadcasts. "And now I'm gonna put you back inside the Owl Box for sights and sounds from San Marcos."

CARNAGE CARPET: (noun) Floor covering in the Casa de Owlets. You can't handle the truth....  Courtesy of Horks 'R Us.

CARRIE: (proper noun): Second owlet born to the second clutch. Hatched 8/8/2010. Named after Carrie Underwood. 

CASHLEY: (proper noun) Name for the two owlets from the second clutch since  we often  don't know which is which because they are only one day different in age.

CHIAROWLSCURO: (noun) The dramatic interplay of light and dark on the owls in the box that occurs when the sun sets.

CHSN: (noun) Carlos Home Shopping Network

CIRCLE OF DOOM: (noun) The white dots that circle in the middle of a window when the picture is loading or transmission is slow. Also called the Dreaded Circle of Death (q.v.).

CIRQUE DU SOWLEIL: (noun) "High wire" acrobatics of the owlets on the roof, fledge ledge and any other make-do landing strip.

CLICK THE CLICKER: (Carlosquial expression) Snap a photo.

COME OUT OF THE BOX: (Carlosquial expression) To branch or fledge.

COMP WENT INTO THE FREEZER: (colloquial expression) Computer freeze triggered by too much chat room traffic, and/or committing the mortal sin of letting your cursor sit in "the white space."

CORNER OF DEATH: (noun) Where carcasses pile up until someone needs a good gnaw. Also called the pantry (q.v.).

DONNA ROYAL: (proper noun) Wife of Carlos Royal, and the one who asked Carlos to put up an owl box.

DREADED CIRCLE OF DEATH: (noun) The circle of dots that appears over the live video stream when there's a problem; a/k/a Ringo, Spinz.

DROWLCULA (also DRACOWLA): (noun) A black hole-like force lurking in the basement of the chat room that aims to take the life out of it by knocking it off topic and, in the process, sucks out the normal good humor.

DUDLEY: (proper noun) Name for the sixth, and unhatched, egg. Sometimes kicked like a soccer ball, sometimes pounced upon. He's a real sport, despite his lot in life.

DUTCH COFFEE: (noun) A beverage that brings out the crazy in Carlos!

FACE PLANT: (noun) The act of falling over from eating too much. More generally, and applied to humans or other animals, the act of falling over from any excess, such as too much food or activity or too little sleep. (verb) To fall over from eating too much. More generally, to fall over from any excess.

FLEDGE LEDGE: (noun) An additional ledge nailed outside the Owl Box as a fledgling catch zone to calm the nerves of worried observers. 

FLEDGESTIVITIES: (noun) Party atmosphere induced by owlets' first fledge.

FLEDGE WATCH: (noun) An observation period that began at 8:30 PST in mid-May. It's when the owls become active for the evening and start gathering by the door for their game of "I dare ya to jump to that branch...!"

FLUFFY THE FRAME BUSTER: (proper noun) The bit of owlet fluff that is caught on the edge of the inside camera opening and that waves in the breeze, interfering with photos. Also called Windsockz (q.v.).

FOOD COMA: (noun) Temporary prone condition afflicting owlets who have eaten too much. Begins with a face plant (q.v.)

FUZZBUCKETCUDDLEBUMPS: (noun) Often preceeded by the word cute. What wee owlets look like when huddled together at night waiting for a delivery. 

FUZZY CUDDLE HUDDLE: (noun) The name for any pile of young owlets.

FUZZY OWLET BUTT: (noun) Affliction owlets suffer before their feathers come in.

GAG SHAG: (noun) The "carpet" of furry leftovers lining the bottom of the Owl Box.  a/k/a Rug Rats.

GEE THAT WAS FUN, AND I WAS A PART OF IT: (Carlosquial expression) Said before singing THAT song or after Carlos commercials.

GLIMMERZ: (proper noun) The name of the spider outside the Owl Box on OB2 that "glows" at night on the infrared camera. Thought to have been eaten by Mocks on 8-2-10, but still around.

GLOWZ: (proper noun) The name of the spider in the Owl Box that "glows" at night on the infrared camera.

GO DOWN TO THE BASEMENT: (verb) Scroll down past the more bar in the Sportsman's Paradise chat room, farther, and farther, and farther... to catch up on comments you missed.

HALZ: (proper noun) The camera on the far side of the Owl Box that we can see on the day camera. When that camera is on, there is a red light on it.

HAPPY JUICE: (noun) What gets some watchers through endless hours of mommy/daddy calling but no action.

HIPPOPOTAMOUSE: (noun) Any large, unidentified rodent.

HORK: (verb) To expel a shiny black pellet composed of bones, fur and other indigestible parts of a meal.

HORK IF YOU LOVE MOLLY: (noun) New bumper sticker

HORKU: (noun) Witty, owl-inspired poetry.

HUNCHBACK OF MOLLY DAME: (adjective) Used to describe Pattison's posture.

JAC STACK: (noun) Name for the pile of surviving 2nd clutch owlets - Jack Ashley Carrie - first initials

JACK STACK: (noun) Name for the pile of original 2nd clutch owlets - Jack Ashley Carrie Kelly - first initials. 

JODY: (Proper Noun)  1 - Fourth owlet born to the second clutch. Egg laid 7/14/2010. Hatched  8/14/2010. Jody died 8/21/2010.  2 - Carlos Royal's sister 1935-2001.

JUNGLE GYM: (noun) The series of ledges, platforms and perches Carlos put up for the owls. Their "playground in the park."

KELLY: (proper noun)  Third owl born to the second clutch. Egg Laid 7/11/10.  Hatched 8/13/10. Kelly died 8/17/2010 and was consumed by Molly.

KIDZ: (noun) The owlets from the first clutch - Max, Pattison, Austin, & Wesley.

KNOTTABIRD: (noun) The original knotty wooden perch, attached to the right of the Owl Box door, which appears to be a small bird in the infrared outdoor night-cam view.

LEGGS MCGEE: (proper noun) Nick name for McGee based on the night time camera angle for the first clutch. Often all we saw of him were his legs.

MAX: (proper noun) 1 - First owl born to the first clutch, probably female. Hatched 03/21/10.  2 - Name of long time friend of Carlos Royal.

MCGEE: (proper noun) Mate to Molly, main provider of food to the clutches. aka Leggs McGee.

MEMOROWLBILIA: (noun) Objects and goods that stir up memories of owls.

MIMZ: (proper noun) The OB2 mimosa tree that impersonates a variety of creatures, among them great horned owls, gargoyles, and ALF. 

MMOD: (noun) Molly Merchandise Obsessive Disorder

MOCKS: (proper noun) The name of the mockingbird that visits the top of the Owl Box every morning and evening. Also called Moxley and Moxy, and also spelled Mockz and Mox.
MODSTOCK: (noun) The first gathering of MODs at a picnic in San Marcos, to be held from 12-2 p.m. on May 29, 2010. As Carlos says, "$1 admission, bring your own food."
MOLLY: (proper noun) The matriarch of the Owl Box, mother to two clutches in 2010, and wife to McGee.
MOLLY SHIMMY: (noun) This is the term applied to the movement Molly makes when she settles down on top of her eggs.
MOWLMENTOS: (noun) Screen-save photos, bits of poetry, new friend e-mails, all gathered from Sportsman's Paradise Online, ground zero for MODists.
MR. BLINKY STAR: (proper noun) A blinking star/planet of unknown name visible moving behind the Owl Box at night when Carlos was using the original night view camera. Thought to be the planet Venus, but could also be the stars Betelgeuse or Sirius. Now used to identify any random blinking light in the distance.
MR. BOLTY: (proper noun) The bolt installed backwards on the pole inside the Owl Box (according to Carlos) that makes Smurfs swoon, yet makes the owlets want to sharpen their beaks.
MR. CARROT (aka Kyle the Carrot): (proper noun) Vacadude's alter ego who tends to turnip when you least expect it. Get it? Hah-hah!... Tough crowd...
NOB: (phrase) Normal owl behavior, and in "That's NOB" when newbies ask, "Why are they doing that??!!! What's wrong with them???!!!"
OWLCOHOLISM: (noun) Affliction that MODs suffer from. (There is currently no known cure.)
OWLIENS: (noun) Mysterious lights flying in the distance of the camera views, not to be confused with MR. BLINKY STAR.
OWL MORSE CODE: (Carlosquial expression) The tetetetete calls from Molly & McGee to coax the owlets to come out of the box.
OWLOTICZ: (noun) Nonpartisan politics as practiced by Molly and Mollywatchers: Peace, love, community.
OWLROBICS: (noun) A form of exercise performed on the Owl Box roof.
OWLSTEOPOROSIS: (noun) The obvious reason for Pattison's hunchbacked posture...
OWLTA: (colloquial expression) As in, "Talk to you later. I'm owlta here..."
OWL YOGA: (noun) A yoga-like pose of balancing on one leg while stretching out the other, then alternating feet. Originally called MOLLY YOGA.
PANTRY: (noun) The corner of the box where food is stored for later consumption. Also called the Corner of Death (q.v.).
PATTISON: (proper noun) 1 - Second owl born to the first clutch. Hatched 03/23/10. 2 - Name of the first elementary school for which Carlos did a live narration.
PIPSTERIA: (noun) The strange behavior that sweeps over the crowd when hearing real or imagined pips
POLEY: (proper noun) The pole that holds the Owl Box up. Home to Mr. Bolty (q.v.).
POUNCE ON THE MOUSE: (verb) To practice jumping, talons first, from one place to another.
POWLPARAZZI: (noun) An expression for Carlos when he snaps flash photos of the owls when they ledge, branch or fly. We do not know if he hears Madonna singing "Vogue" in his mind when he does this.
QWERTY FACE: (noun). What happens to you when you do a FACE PLANT on the keyboard while waiting for McGee to visit.
RAT JERKY: (noun) Petrified rat tail, seasoned by accident.
RETURN TO OZ: (verb) When the infrared camera makes the pinky dusk fade into a twilight emerald green. Comes from JL's post each evening at that time, "We are back in OZ."
RINGO : (noun) Another name for the Circle of Doom.
SANTOWLCLAUS: (noun) An unknown parent on the roof of the Owl Box.
SCROLIOSIS: (noun) A big, long window of chat open that can morph into a disease that sucks the energy out of your computer, causing it to spin, freeze and crash.
SUMPIN' BIG: (Carlosquial expression) Originally a description of a large, unidentified food delivery by McGee. Generalized to mean anything large, important, or thrilling.
TAILGHETTI: (noun) That last piece of rat tail dangling from an owlet's beak.
TAUNTLET: (noun) Offspring of Tauntz (q.v.). Also referred to as stuffed jalapeno hoppers and bunny drummies.
TAUNTZ: (proper noun) The rabbit who hangs out at the bottom of the Owl Box pole and taunts the owls.
TOWLOPHONE: (noun) The best thing to use to contact Carlos Royal.
TRAMPOWLINE: (noun) The landing pad that Carlos built. Used by the owlets for pouncing practice and by the entire family for picnics.
THE REMBRANDT HOUR: (noun) The last hour before the night vision camera switches on, when darkness slowly envelopes the owl box and it takes on the colors of a Rembrandt painting.
THE REPUBLIC OF MOLLY: (noun) A virtual nation consisting of all the owls, people and rodents who have made up our world for the past few months! Carlos Royal is the president of the republic.
URP: (noun) The Unidentified Rodent Parts which stock the Owl Box pantry.
VENTROWLAQUIST: (noun) An owl that can project the sound of a dog barking in the distance, without moving its beak!
WART: (noun) Short form of worry wart, one who worries excessively about the safety of the owls and owlets. (verb) To worry excessively about the owls and owlets.
WESLEY: (proper noun) 1 - Fourth owl born to the first clutch, probably female. Hatched 03/28/10. 2 - Royal family name.
WINDSOCKZ: (noun) The owlet fluff that's caught on the inside-cam's opening to the Owl Box, which indicates wind speed and direction. Also called Fluffy the Frame Buster (q.v.).
WINGPITS: (noun) The inner crook of the owl's wings exposed when they holder them out (like a flasher) to cool off.
Y'OWL: (colloquial expression) Greeting to fellow MODs.
ZORRO: (proper noun) The one that got away. Zorro, a very live mouse, was delivered to the Owl Box by McGee one night. Zorro hid in the pantry (where the URP was stored) until Molly wasn't looking and then made a mad dash for the door. Zorro apparently learned how to fly in the 30 seconds he spent inside the Owl Box....
