Sleep-Talking Hubby and Other Horks,by CAR

Page history last edited by Cheryl Ronning (CAR) 13 years, 9 months ago

Welcome, my MOD lovelies!

7/13/10: Told Hubby on Monday night that I was going to go upstairs with the laptop to watch Carlos' broadcast. He asked what Carlos would be talking about, and I told him that I wasn't sure, but that I knew that Molly and McGee had started their second family and I was hoping to get an update. He just stared at me, and I went upstairs.

Last night, I was having trouble sleeping, so I picked up my phone from beside the bed to check the time. The small amount of light must have triggered something in him. He sat straight up, looked at me, and said (in a very stern voice):

"I cannot take this again! It must stop, I tell you!"

I swear he sounded just like an Masterpiece Theatre mystery detective, minus the English accent...

I let out a burst of laughter, but it didn't phase him a bit. He just plopped back down and slept till morning...

6/26/10 HORK:  FAVORITE ANIMAL SIGHTING-

Hubby and I were staying in the Grand Tetons, and had a cabin with a wrap-around porch that overlooked what is called "The Moose Pond". Hubby was out on the corner of the porch, looking around with his binoculars, trying to spot a moose. I was inside, with the porch door open, brushing my hair in front of a mirror that happened to reflect that porch door. I looked up, and froze - there was a moose, with his front quarters (head, chest and legs) standing in the doorway, looking at me. He huffed, and grunted, and spurted a bit, then turned around  to leave - right toward Hubby, who still had his back toward the cabin, looking out at the pond, binoculars up to his eyes, and a moose headed straight down the porch toward him.

I'm trying to get his attention without frightening the moose, and am softly screeching "Hubby! Hubby!". He responds, still looking through the binoculars, with a moose now standing directly behind him:

"I don't see any moose around here at all!"

Turns around, looks directly into the eyes of Mr. Moose, and jumps about twelve feet into the air.  Moose stays for about 10 minutes, poking around the porch, sticking his head into the cabin, snuffling around the chairs, then slowly saunters away, into the moose pond. After we get over our shock, Hubby turns to me:

"Why didn't you warn me?"

"I tried! Didn't you hear him??? He was grunting and huffing like crazy!"

"Oh. I thought that was you..."

6/17/10: It was early this morning, and hubby had been quite restless during the night. I was awake and lying quietly, when he

turned over, but didn't wake up. All of a sudden, he starts ---

"They're HOMELESS! Doesn't anybody CARE? No Home! No Place to live!!"

At this point, I was practically choking from trying not to laugh out loud and wake him up, but it didn't stop me from goading

him on just a little. So I whispered "food"  "mice"  "eat", etc., until he responded.

"For God's Sake they're STARVING! AND THEY'VE GOT NO HOME!!!!

6/15/10: (A two-parter...) Middle of the night. I'm reading, hubby wakes up, asks me what I'm doing. I tell him I can't sleep; I'm reading because I don't have the owls to watch anymore. He says:

"You're not reading that smurf book, are you?"  OMG! I almost fell off the bed!

He goes back to sleep. About a half an hour later, he's mumbling, so I know to wait for it... and yep, sure enough:

"They're gone... they're gone...  oh.  ...gone. .... I'll make breakfast."

Don't ask me. I don't have a clue!  Maybe that smurf lady does...

6/14/10:  Hubby knew that I was a little down last night, with the final night of the owl box looming over us,

so he was trying to joke me out of my mood. He was teasing me about what I could do next - maybe I could

go to Northern Minnesota and hang out with a Common Loon - he said he'd been doing it for years and it was fun!

So he went upstairs and fell asleep. I was watching our amazing evening of owl antics when he sat up, looked at me and said:

"I'm not buying you an owl."

Laid back down. About a minute later, sat up again and said:

"A black Lab. I'll get you a black Lab. But no owl."

I may hold him to that!

    You now

CAR, I changed the link at the top to point to the correct page. Hope that's what you were asking about. :)

I think she wants a link on the front page. I don't know where Mollie or Latrippi wants to put it. They usually do front page stuff. :)
